For me, Whitney Houston has to be one of the biggest enigmas in the world of entertainment. Such immense talented, but at the same time such immense personal flaws.
In spite of her being in the spotlight for many of the wrong reasons for much of her short life – even after her tragic death in 2012 – this woman has left an indelible legacy in the music world. Her music remains timeless and her vocal talent is an inspiration to many.
As a teen, I Wanna Dance with Somebody and I’m Every Woman could be heard blasting out of my room almost every day. Here music videos were just such fun. I even remember receiving a cassette (left in our postbox) with just one song on it after a teen “love” ended. Oh, the “snot and trane” her song set loose!!
And who can forget Houston’s rendition of I Will Always Love You in the movie, The Bodyguard, starring Kevin Costner.
Since the death of this icon of pop, many tributes have been performed in her honour.
Now you can get to watch a brand new show at Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom from December 9 to January 15 next year. The Greatest Love of All – The Whitney Houston Show celebrates many of Houston’s most loved songs from her 29-year career.
The star of the show is Belinda Davis, a PE-born songstress who boasts a breathtaking voice. Don’t miss her renditions of hits like I Will Always Love You, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, One Moment in Time, Didn’t We Almost Have It All and loads more.
Davids boasts an impressive music career – having worked as a solo recording artist and as a support act and backing vocalist for acts such as The Temptations, Keri Hilson, Keyshia Cole, Monica and Johnny Gill. She’s a natural performer, but it’s her intimate knowledge and love of Houston’s music that will give this show a personal, heartfelt feel.
So if you’re a fan of Whitney Houston, don’t miss out on what promises to be a magnificent celebration of the life of arguably one of the world’s best vocal artists.
