Fashion Revolution Week: a month to go!<\/strong><\/h1>\n

It\u2019s less than a month to go to Fashion Revolution Week, which takes place on April 23-29. <\/span><\/p>\n

This year marks the 5th year since the Rana Plaza<\/a> factory collapse. This single event shook the fashion world and set off a chain of events that eventually lead to the world\u2019s biggest \u00a0fashion activism movement – Fashion Revolution.<\/span><\/p>\n

People the world over are calling on brands to change. <\/span>And in the past five years brands are listening and even acting.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the work is not complete. Fashion Revolution will continue calling the fashion industry to account. It will strive to ensure every garment worker, who makes the clothes we love to wear, is seen, paid properly and works in safe conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The movement will continue in its efforts to get consumers to interrogate their relationship with clothes and encourage them to consider ethical consumption.<\/p>\n

And the Durban leg of the movement is eagerly putting together exciting events for April. The team is planning two events in April – as a build-up to their main event on May 3. <\/span><\/p>\n

Kick off<\/h3>\n

The first is part of the First Thursday (April 5) festivities at The Vintager<\/a>\u00a0at The Plant on Station Drive. Here, organisers will launch their <\/span>#Haulternative<\/span><\/a> competition, and will share their vision with you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another event is planned for later in April. But you\u2019ll have to watch this space for more news about it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Activities will culminate in a fantastic showcase at the KZNSA Gallery on May 3. The aim is to host 5-10 minute talks on sustainable fashion and related matters, educational video clips, an exhibition of artworks and innovative products, workshops, pop-up shops, a swap shop, and the announcement of the winner for their #Haulternative competition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ultimately, Fashion Revolution Durban wants to highlight how sustainable and conscious living can be a reality and is doable.<\/span><\/p>\n
