Three tips to generate engagement on social media<\/h1>\n

The success of a social media campaign correlates strongly with engagement. Likes, comments, shares, debate \u2013 they all signal engagement and they\u2019re good for your brand.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, if you want people engaging with your content and your brand, you should be paying careful consideration to what type of posts your audience will relate to.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are heaps of ideas out there that could help you find the right type of post to generate the best engagement. This post looks at my top three.<\/span><\/p>\n

Personalise<\/span><\/h3>\n

I make a concerted effort to keep up my social media presence, but this isn\u2019t enough to build my audience and keep them interested. Sharing a success, sharing a milestone \u2026 these things matter.<\/span><\/p>\n

I have found that personalising my brand is one of the best ways to encourage engagement. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Whether it\u2019s a picture of my cat Zeke or an anecdote about myself, I\u2019ve learnt that my audience is very interested in the human side of my brand. Telling my story or sharing a snippet of my life makes my brand more relatable to my audience. Is it the same for you?<\/span><\/p>\n

Series<\/span><\/h3>\n

I have a Freelance Friday series on my social media platforms every Friday. It is a peek into my life as an independent consultant<\/a>, a peek at me being my own boss. It\u2019s sometimes light and funny and sometimes serious and hard-hitting.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve utilised a similar series idea for a number of my clients and they\u2019ve proven to be a fantastic success.<\/span><\/p>\n

Series imply curation and thought rather than a lot of random posts thrown into your feed. They also give you an opportunity to interact regularly with your audience, on a particular topic.<\/span><\/p>\n

Call to action<\/span><\/h3>\n

Everyone has an opinion and many would like to share that opinion with their favourite brands. It gives them a sense of being included. And what better way to hear what your followers think as well as get them involved than through a poll? Polls can be used to engage with your audience, conduct research among your followers and even run giveaways. And some social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Google+ allow you to carry them out on your feed.<\/span><\/p>\n
