The fourth Durban Fashion Fair (DFF), brought to you by the eThekwini Municipality, is around the corner.<\/p>\n

The fashion extravaganza, a highlight on the Durban fashion calendar, boasts international, national and emerging designers who will showcase their creations from August 26-29 on the SUNdeck at Suncoast Casino.<\/p>\n

eThekwini aims to back all aspects of the fashion industry. Not only is it offering established and up-and-coming designers a space to showcase their work, the municipality has also created a platform for new models who were scouted from within the eThekwini area.<\/p>\n

\"Trainers,<\/a>

Trainers, Lunga Wanda, Kerry-Lee Harrington and Washington Mngomezulu, are surrounded by aspiring models.<\/p><\/div>\n

A group of 20 new faces have been selected and they will now participate in a \u201cmodel boot camp\u201d \u2013 what organisers call the ultimate model training workshop. Here they will receive instruction in all aspects of modelling, including techniques of walking the ramp alongside professional models, etiquette at photographic sessions, as well as how to keep fit and healthy \u2013 the focus being functional training over the next six weeks.<\/p>\n

Says Sindi Shangase the Business Support, Tourism and Markets Unit Programme Manager who spearheads DFF: “There is so much talent on our doorstep. I believe it is up to us and the team behind the Durban Fashion Fair to offer these platforms and provide opportunities relating to the fashion industry.”<\/p>\n

\"Model<\/a>

Model boot camp kicks off with DFF<\/p><\/div>\n

Over the past four years DFF has integrated fashion development, exhibitions and fashion shows over four days. It encourages a culture of entrepreneurship and more importantly provides an opportunity for local young designers to access markets and network among fashion heavyweights. This approach to the fashion industry has firmly established DFF as one of the most successful fashion programmes in South Africa.<\/p>\n

We should be proud that it happens right in our backyard. Show your support and catch all the latest trends and fashion as set out by both South African and international designers. There are also the exhibition pop-up shops to visit. You can get your tickets for the shows at Computicket from July 24. Access to the pop-up shops is free.<\/p>\n
