With more than 25 years of experience as a communications specialist, I bring a wealth of expertise in strategic communication, content creation, and editorial services. Having spent 16 years as a journalist with Independent Media before transitioning to a freelance career, I excel in online journalism, content creation, and specialised English coaching. I am a strategic communicator whose passion lies in crafting content that informs, engages, and inspires.
I hold a strong academic foundation in critical analysis, writing, and editing. I earned a Master’s degree in South African English Literature (graduating Cum Laude) from the University of Natal, alongside a BA (Hons) in African Literature (graduating First Class) from the University of the Witwatersrand.
This background underpins my core strengths in content creation and editing, encompassing copywriting, reports, briefing documents, feature writing, strategic content, and ghostwriting. My understanding of high-quality professional documentation is highlighted by my guidance on What makes a good CV? A key to landing the job.
I currently work as an English trainer for executives at Intercountry, a company based in France. In this highly specialised role, I support high-profile clients across major international companies, including Banque de France, Renault, Agence Française de Developpement, as well as French public enterprises such as Banque de France and Agence Française de Développement. My service focuses specifically on business English, often involving the writing and editing of professional, high-stakes documents like contracts, presentations, speeches, and reports to ensure they are polished and professional.
My passion for education also extends to working with top French business schools, where I conduct English assessments as part of the candidate enrolment process.
My journalistic portfolio demonstrates her ability to handle complex and senior-level subject matter. I excel at providing high-level corporate insight, notably interviewing then TIA360 CEO, Sindile Xulu, who discussed her vision for pandemic recovery within the tourism sector.
I’m experienced in interviewing well-known authors such as Susan Abulhawa, Barbara Kingsolver, Heinrich Böhmke, and John Connolly.
My work emphasises cross-cultural and educational innovation, demonstrated by my reporting on the Namibia plug-in campus – a collaboration between the University of Namibia and the University of Turku – which promotes student-led cross-cultural learning. This experience in global education complements my role in assisting executives navigate international communication challenges.
Whether I’m developing high-impact corporate messaging, writing insightful articles on topics like sustainable development and travel (such as community tourism which offers realistic insight into local lives), or providing coaching to business executives, I approach every project with expertise and a focus on delivering results.
