Shades of Grey

greyEL James announced on social media on Monday that she will be releasing a new version of her novel Fifty Shades of Grey shortly.

I’ve written about this Fifty Shades series previously. But I just had to share my thoughts on this latest venture of hers.

The Fifty Shades trilogy has reached worldwide sales of more than 125 million copies! And it has become one of the most successful publications in the history of book publishing. Completely, utterly mind-boggling stats. And I am still confounded by the hype around it.

So forgive my jaded response at the fact that now readers can look forward to another angle in this “tantalising” tale – this time written from the smouldering Christian Grey’s point of view.

This book will be titled … wait for it … Grey. Really?

And it will be published on June 18 – apparently the date of Christian’s birthday in the Fifty Shades series.

James dedicates this book to all her fans who “asked… and asked… and asked… and asked for this” – for her to write a book from Christian’s point of view.

Says James in a press release: ”Christian is a complex character and readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past. Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story. It’s been a great pleasure to return to my happy place – writing (and) being with Christian and Ana in their universe.”

So hang on to your riding crops everyone, EL James is far from done. And you don’t have long to wait for her next “mummy porn” installment.
