East Coast Radio’s Toy Story with Game kicked off this week and the station’s headquarters in uMhlanga was jam-packed with celebrities and sports stars who endorse the initiative.
From Sharkie to Sharks player Khaya Majola, Sunfoil Dolphins’ players Calvin Savage and Daryn Smit as well as musicians Kyle Deutch, Sketchy Bongo and Aewon Wolf, the campaign now in its 15th year has some strong backing.
The annual CSI campaign aims to provide every child in a government hospital, children’s home and orphanage in KwaZulu-Natal with a brand new toy.
Cash donations to ECR’s Toy Story with Game will help sustain child-headed households over the December school holidays. Each food parcel costs R350 and can feed a family of four people for 6 weeks.
The ECR Toy Story’s key sponsor is Game, and other stakeholders are Dawn Wing, Red Cross Air Mercy Services and Champ Marketing.
The December holidays are always special because whether you celebrate Christmas or not, there is an expectation of festive cheer and presents. Toy Story is a reminder that not all children can partake in this cheer and we can help bring a smile to a disadvantaged child’s face with a simple donation of a toy or a much-needed meal.
So, get involved this year, donate a new toy or make a cash donation at your nearest Game store. Toys can also be dropped off at East Coast Radio’s offices in Umhlanga. Banking details and more information are available on the website.
If your business or school would like to get involved, e-mail ECR to request a collection box.
ECR will broadcast the 12-3pm show live from Newcastle on October 23, so businesses and residents in the area can get involved.
The Toy Story Corporate Day Challenge will take place on November 20 at the Pavilion Shopping Centre.
And the highlight will be the Toy Story Cavalcade on December 15, when toys will be distributed around KZN.
