I recently had a birthday and my family and close friends know – at least one of my gifts must come from my favourite pamper store, and at least some of those gifts must be for my hands.
For me, there is no better retail therapy better than a half-hour spent at the Rain Africa store at Gateway. From the captivating music to the beautiful scents that filter through the store – it is an experience that appeals to all five senses in the most positive of ways.
I’m not sure what it is – maybe it’s me using my hands to express myself, perhaps it’s because my hands are an integral part of my writing or typing – but treating them well has always been important to me.
While I love indulging in a salon manicure, I also love treating my own hands with my favourite products in the comfort of my home and at my leisure.
And as summer approaches and we have a chance to bare more flesh, I’ve been spending more time making sure my feet and hands look summer-ready.
I’ve tried many products – but always return to the handmade products to be found at Rain stores. The Biologie range is my favourite – especially the little power tub cuticle balm that is always in my handbag and on my nightstand. With ingredients like sweet almond, coconut, beeswax, honey, lemon peel and rosemary, this balm bombshell moisturises and softens my cuticles, leaving my hands soft and smelling positively sublime. And this tiny tub goes a long way since all you need is a small amount to massage into your cuticles as you need.
My handbag also contains the Biologie Rooibos Hydrating hand lotion – my second favourite indulgence. I admit it – I’m a bit OCD when it comes to washing my hands. It keeps the germs away, but certainly my hands come in for a bruising from being exposed to soap and water so often. So the hand lotion is an essential tool for me. Made with Rooibos and shea butter, the lotion is said to decrease pigmentation and improve circulation. The combination of the lotion and cuticle balm leaves my hands squeaky clean but amply moisturised and smelling heavenly.
As I drifted through the Rain store at Gateway last week, I also came upon the Aloe and Avocado hand scrub – the perfect aid to remove dead skin cells and make way for new ones. While aloe provides healing, apricot seeds provide exfoliation and avocado oil is great to restore moisture and softness to my hands. So I’ve added this little gem to my home hand care treatment and I’m loving the results already.
As I watch my just-pampered hands dance over my keyboard, I’m quite thrilled at my home spa manicure. Try out these products and let me know what you think.
Next I’ll be writing about my home body care routine with some of my other finds at the Rain store. Look out for it.[contact-form-7 404 "Not Found"]
