Dance your way to health

So all you children of the 80s – do you remember the raves you frequented in dingy warehouses and other hidden venues?

Bet you didn’t believe that a rave could be associated with clean living and wholesome family time.

Durban is set to embark on a new experience – The Morning Rave – and it promises to be all of that.

The morning sober rave, also known as awakenings, is the latest trend that appears to be taking the world by storm – and it’s proven a huge hit in SA too.

12642777_422169754659014_8211901144066290752_nFamily, fitness, fun, good vibes … The Morning Rave is all about these things. It’s happening at one of Durban’s most exciting urban regeneration spaces – 8 Morrison Street – on Saturday, February 27.

A visit to The Morning Rave Facebook page and the invite reads thus:

‘The Morning Rave’ invites you to spin the convention of raving on its head! In fact, spin it RIGHT round, like a record baby…

  • Invigorate your day
  • Turn up the tempo on your exercise routine
  • Get wild
  • Get fit
  • Have fun

Music is without doubt, ‘The strongest form of magic’.

Who can argue with that?

The rave is open to everyone, so kids and grandparents are welcome too.

You can dress up or down – anything goes.

In fact, the first guy at the venue in a Speedo gets in free.

With well-known local group Veranda Panda and Cape Town’s The Kiffness lined up as the rave-masters you can rest assured, the music will be great.

So head on down to 8 Morrison Street on February 27 from 6-9am for a family-friendly exercise party.

Tickets are R100 per person and you can book through Computicket. Children under 12 get in free.

The early bird special is R80 for the first 300 tickets sold.

And remember – first guy in a Speedo gets in free!
